In busy distribution centers it is common to require more than two batteries per truck, which can cause a problem when it comes time to charge a truck's spare batteries.
Traditionally, the problem was addressed in one of two ways - neither of which were ideal. The first way involved buying and installing a charger for each spare battery; an expensive purchase often resulting in high peak electricity costs, as all the chargers on the site could be on at the same time. The second way required diligent operators to disconnect batteries as they finished charge, then connect the batteries that still needed to be charged; a policy that was rarely successful, resulting in uneven battery usage and idle batteries. Either option left the operator with a large pool of batteries to choose from, and no instruction on which battery to select.
The TwinCharge solves this challenge by allowing one charger to charge two batteries sequentially. When a battery is plugged into the TwinCharge it automatically starts charging. When charging is completed, the first battery will be safely isolated from the charger and a bright blue LED will indicate that the battery is now ready for use. If there is a second discharged battery connected to the second input, it will automatically switch over and begin charging. The process is completely automatic and requires no operator input. The status of each connected battery is clearly displayed on the control panel. Clear indications show if the battery is connected, charging or ready.
The TwinCharge has industry standard plug connections that instantly will turn one charger into two. All power requirements are taken from the batteries with no electrical installation cost. Each ready battery is safely isolated from the charger, preventing potential sparks during disconnection. The TwinCharge has been designed with safety in mind with ETL, CE, C-Tick certificates for use around the globe.
At no extra cost, the TwinCharge is 100% compatible with the iBOS intelligent battery organizing system. Each battery is individually monitored, and when connected to an iBOS controller it is dispatched in the order that it completed charge.
The TwinCharge saves costs by running two spare batteries per truck without high peak electricity loads and without the cost of redundant chargers. It is safer and easier for operators who no longer need to remember to switch chargers from one battery to another. Being iBOS compatible, it can turn a standard charger into an intelligent charger capable of charging two batteries.
