WHAT’S NEW

The eGO (not currently available in the Americas) is the electronic “odometer” that measures cycle-life of truck batteries, compensating automatically for partial cycles and abuse conditions. Its the new-generation asset management tool for battery fleets.

In about three seconds, a summary of the entire life of a forklift battery can be downloaded from the eGO unit attached to the battery onto a PDA. After running the eGO application on the PDA, simply point the infrared port of the PDA at the infrared window on the eGO and touch the screen to “Start a new download.” The download will never take longer than about three seconds regardless of how much history is recorded in the eGO.

Viewing Downloads from the device

Each download consists of five separate screens of information. Each page displays the eGO identity number, download date and time at the top.

  1. Instant Status: Displays the present condition of the battery at the moment of the dowload. This includes voltage temperature and electrolyte information. It also includes the highest and lowest voltages during the last completed cycle.
  2. Monitoring Information: Includes detailed information about the usage of the battery. This includes the number complete cycles, the equivalent number of full cycles applied proportionally to the amount of opportunity charging. Also displayed are the daily/monthly average temperature and the chronological age of the battery.
  3. Historical Information: Shows the lifetime minimum and maximum voltages of the battery, and the corresponding days in which the high and low voltages occured. Shows the lifetime maximum temperature.
  4. Abuse indicators: Displays the amount of user abuse the battery has experienced. Information includes over temperature, overdischarge. Information to show if and when the eGO has been wrongfully disconnected. The history will show how often and how long the battery has been left with low electrolyte.
  5. Derived indicators: This page Includes calculated information about how the battery has been used and what affect the usage and abuse will have on the life of the battery. The average number cycles per day is calculated and displayed for the entire life and the last 30 days. These values can be compared against the agreed usage of the customer to ensure customers are paying for what they use. An estimate of the battery life is displayed as a percentage. By evaluating all the age, use and abuse information, the eGO can display an estimate of the number of days that the battery will last before it requires replacement.
